Poetry Palaver - Appreciation Week
This course will introduce you to different forms of poetry, expand your vocabulary and learn to appreciate and share poetry with others.

This one day class is offered for Free during Home School Appreciation Week.
Introduction to odes, haiku, free verse, acrostics, limericks etc. Listen to the poetry of famous poets and share poems you like with the class. Discuss favorite lines, favorite words, favorite rhymes. Draw your response as you listen to a poem, create a color map to illustrate the mood of a poem and discuss the sounds of words and poetic devices. Appreciate the rhythm of language and apply it to poems of your own.
Students submit an original poem each day via google slides.

About Jen Hudson
Jennifer has been homeschooling her two daughters for ten years and loves math games, literature, nature walks and hands on learning. She feels privileged to be able to educate her children and lead them on the path of life-long learning and help them develop their unique abilities and passions. She and her family love museums, beach days, card games and handicrafts. She taught kindergarten and first grades in public school for a few years after getting her Elementary Teaching Credential at Cal Poly Pomona. During the past two and half years she worked as an educational facilitator at a hybrid charter school where she fell in love with teaching math to young learners.
