Draw Me a Story
Does your student love story time? In this class we connect art with children's literature to create a depth of comprehension with hands-on fun!
Class Schedule(s)
0 availableClass Description
The focus of this class is to bring together both literature and art. Each week, we'll read and talk about a new book with themes that will range from animals to outer space and beyond. Afterwards, we’ll use a variety of art supplies to get creative and have fun.
I use a wonderful art resource called Deep Space Sparkle. All of their lessons adhere to state standards. If you have an emerging writer at home there is also an 'I Like My Art Because…' page. This can compliment their artwork and help develop their writing skills. When I’m not using a lesson from Deep Space Sparkle, I like to have the class draw their favorite part or favorite character from the story. They might even want to make up and draw their own ending!

I have been teaching art for the past four years to K-12 as well as beginning adults. Before teaching art full time I was a preschool teacher for 10 years. I love inspiring confidence and creativity!
