Math Enrichment for Middle Grades - Appreciation Week
Activities are multi step projects and involve creative problem solving, exploration, discussion and reflection. Projects and puzzles will involve mathematical patterns, geometry, multiplication, division, and estimation.
Math projects that encourage thinking about numbers and operations flexibly.

This one day class is offered for Free during Home School Appreciation Week.
Students solve math Puzzles and use visuals and printable manipulatives to creatively solve complex problems. Students develop communication skills while explaining their problem solving strategies and detecting patterns. Students utilize the vocabulary of Geometry including: symmetry, sum of angles, vertex, parallel lines, perpendicular lines etc. They will work on a tiling problem and determine the characteristics of shapes that can be used to tile a plane

Jennifer has been homeschooling her two daughters for ten years and loves math games, literature, nature walks and hands on learning. She feels privileged to be able to educate her children and lead them on the path of life-long learning and help them develop their unique abilities and passions. She and her family love museums, beach days, card games and handicrafts. She taught kindergarten and first grades in public school for a few years after getting her Elementary Teaching Credential at Cal Poly Pomona. During the past two and half years she worked as an educational facilitator at a hybrid charter school where she fell in love with teaching math to young learners.
