Class Description

Studies show that when children are actively engaged with a subject, they learn and retain information better! Let’s use the fun, imaginative world of Pokemon to motivate and encourage your child to learn reading skills!


In this course, your student will:

  1. Review the alphabet letter names, corresponding sounds, and a Pokemon name every week.
  2. Complete basic phonics worksheets with a Pokemon theme.
  3. Play Pokemon-related reading games.

Students will generate at least one written work sample per week which may be included in a work portfolio and/or submitted to your charter school teacher.

Additional Information

Class size 1-10 students

Instructor will email a booklet of materials/activities to print and use for this class. No need to buy anything. Please have colored pencils, crayons, or highlighters on hand for activities.

Kathy Kendrick earned a BA in Communicative Disorders and MS in Instructional Design and Technology and teaches many different classes including American Sign Language, Language Arts, Reading/Phonics (Orton-Gillingham trained) and her newest passion is “Gameschooling”.
