Reading, Writing, and Pokemon - Appreciation Week
Kids love Pokemon! Let’s use this fun, engaging topic to learn about Language Arts! This story-based Language Arts class will use games and other fun activities (like mnemonic devices and graphic organizers) to cover Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Spelling.

This class is offered for Free during Appreciation Week. The following is what a regular course would look like:
"Pokemon, I choose you!" Kids love Pokemon and this engaging topic is a perfect vehicle to learn about Language Arts! This story-based class will use games and other fun activities (like mnemonic devices and graphic organizers) to cover Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Spelling.
This class is live, online, and interactive.
In this course, your student will:
- Read an original Pokemon-themed story each week.
- Quantify the critical story elements of the narrative.
- Write a one-paragraph summary of each story.
- Learn basic grammar like parts of speech, figurative language, transitions, and sentence types.
- Participate in surprise-themed activities.
Students will generate at least one written work sample per week which may be included in a work portfolio and/or submitted to your charter school teacher.

Class size: 2-15 students
Supplies:
Instructor will email a booklet of materials/activities to print and use for this class. No need to buy anything. Please have colored pencils, crayons, or highlighters on hand for activities.
Prerequisites
None: Prior knowledge of grammar topics is beneficial, but not required. This class is perfect for your student who is passionate about Pokemon and would be motivated to learn Language Arts skills using the Pokemon world as the background!
