Class Description

This is a special class designed to demystify Shakespeare's language and make his words come to life. We will have fun! The class is open to anyone and no prior knowledge of playing Shakespeare is necessary. The class will be an introduction to my approach in making Shakespeare accessible and enjoyable to all students. It will involve reading, writing, watching film clips, discussion, and analysis of the language. We will explore Shakespeare's poetry so that it's understandable, relatable, and exciting. We will also work on textual analysis, literary devices, making Shakespeare relevant in modern times, and how to connect to the material with passion. Students should have access to the complete works of William Shakespeare online or in their possession.

Additional Information

Class size: 3-12 students

Supplies: The complete works of William Shakespeare. Once we decide on a play, please get the Arden Shakespeare edition of that play. If this isn't possible, Shakespeare MIT online could work as well. http://shakespeare.mit.edu/
