Class Description

Explore the magic and mystery of chemistry! Students will learn about and investigate the states of matter, the periodic table, the elements, atoms, and molecules. In addition, they will learn about acids and bases, chemical reactions, mixtures, and polymers. Class time includes a presentation followed by hands-on activities. Mix JJ Thompson’s Atomic Pudding Model, participate in the Cabbage Juice Extravaganza, pit Pop Rocks against baking soda! Parents can choose from either of two readings for the same basic text. Students will be using the 3rd Edition of whichever level is purchased by the family from Real Science 4 Kids.

About Mary Anne Cheraz

Mary Anne is a certificated teacher who has taught in public and private schools for 20 years. Most recently, Mary Anne was a Learning Specialist working with struggling readers, but has enjoyed teaching children of all ages and abilities. Prior to her education career, Mary Anne worked as a Registered Nurse at City of Hope and has never lost her love of the sciences. Mary Anne has been married to Jeff for 25 years. Jeff and Mary Anne are the proud parents of 2 beautiful children, Ruby and Tanner.
