How do I interact with the instructor?

Our instructors use various platforms, such as Zoom and Google Hangouts. Your instructor will let you know what platform they prefer, and will email the link for your child’s class at least 24 hours before the start of the class session. If you have any questions for your instructor, please contact them via email rather than using class time.

Is there interaction with other online students?

Yes, there are abundant opportunities for students to interact with their classmates. Some teachers will allow students to interact with one another within class sessions; outside of class, they will be interacting through reading reflections and class discussions.

What are the instructor's expectations?

Within the live class time, students are expected to arrive on time, with required materials on hand, and interact respectfully with the instructor and the other students. Outside of class, students are expected to actively and constructively participate in online discussions and complete assignments on time.

How many students are in online classes?

To ensure quality course delivery, online courses normally have 5 to 12 students.

Can my 4th grader take a 7th grade class?

If your child meets the academic prerequisite for the class, they are welcome to join. You know your child’s abilities best!

Is there an age limit for your classes?

While we do permit younger academically-prepared students to join classes geared toward older grades, we do require that all students registering for classes be 18 or under.

Can I use a smartphone for my lesson?

This will be class dependent. In general, younger children should be able to work from a mobile device. Older children are more likely to need access to a computer during class for activities and assignments requested by teachers.

What if I have technological difficulties?

It is strongly encouraged that your computer and video platform be tested for troubleshooting purposes before the start of your class. If you do have an unexpected technical problem, please email your teacher to inform them that you will be missing the class. Unfortunately, there are no make-ups for group classes. Sometimes teachers will have a recording of the class to share, but this is up to the discretion of the individual teachers.

What if my child doesn’t like the class they are enrolled in?

We understand that sometimes a class is just not the right fit. If that’s the case, please let us know within 48 hours of attending the first session by emailing us at info@homeschoolcoaches.com. We want your children to enjoy their AdLIFE classes so you will receive a prorated credit to use towards any other AdLIFE classes you are interested in. May we join a class after it has started?

In most cases, yes; your tuition will be prorated accordingly. However, some classes will require that students start from the beginning since each lesson builds upon in-class learning from the previous lesson.

What charter schools are you vendors for?

Home School Coaches is vendored with multiple charter schools throughout California. Click here for a complete list. If you don’t see your charter school listed, have your school send us a vendor application to info@homeschoolcoaches.com and we will be happy to apply. Note: Home School Coaches is the vendor (not Advanced Life Education - AdLife).
