EDUCATION: BS in Business and Marketing – Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, AAS in Fashion Design – Fashion Institute of Technology, New York Coach Amy is a fashion designer and sewing instructor. Prior to teaching, she designed and sold her women’s collection, Seed Clothing. She draped and developed first patterns and sewed her first samples. Seed Clothing was sold on www.etsy.com and in boutiques throughout the west. Amy has a background in business and marketing with a B.S. degree from California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo. She worked in advertising before moving to New York to study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. While at FIT, Amy learned design room sewing techniques, tailoring, pattern-making, draping, illustration and sewing in leather. After graduation, she worked in the apparel industry for several companies including, Nanette Lepore, Calvin Klein, Chaps Ralph Lauren and Pacific Sunwear. In 2007, she started teaching creative pattern-making at the Culver City Adult School, and basic fashion sewing classes in 2008. She offers private and small class workshops in her Altadena studio, at local libraries, makerspaces, homeschool campuses and community centers. When Amy is not teaching or developing a new class, she is mom to her 11yr old son and a wife to her husband! Amy has also homeschooled herself for 2 years and understands the joys and challenges of homeschooling!
