Coach Profile
Gina has extensively studied many forms of art since childhood. Gina graduated from Bauder Fashion College emphasizing Fashion Illustration and Design and then Interior Design. Upon graduation, Gina proceeded to further her education at the University of Texas in Arlington where she majored in Art and Architecture. Gina returned to California and continued her studies at LACC, UCLA, and privately. She has exhibited her Art throughout Los Angeles and worked as a “clean up” animator on national commercials at Wong Studios.Through her business, “Art Ala Carte”, Gina teaches art privately to predominately homeschooled children, but also to public and private school students in the afternoons. She was in charge of the Art Program “Meet the Masters” at her children’s Elementary School for 7 years, which she restructured and expanded the 12 slides given, to a PowerPoint Presentation consisting of 65-70 works of Art and a lecture that captivated the attention of 700 students. Gina joined the staff at “FUNdamentals Academy,” in 2016, where she offers Beginning Art, Art 1, and Art 2 classes but continues to teach students, privately and in small groups “virtually” and “in person” in the Los Angeles County area.
Testimonials
Our son Matthew, who plans to major in studio art with a focus on animation, has been studying with Ms. Gina for over a year. During that time, he has learned important fundamentals of drawing and improved his skill with various media. He took his first community college studio art class this year;he found that he had learned much from Ms. Gina and was able to earn an A in the class. Subsequently, he has been working with Ms. Gina to further develop skills and to add to his portfolio. We appreciate Ms. Gina's teaching, how she challenges her students, and the insights she shares, such as about art school and about planning for a career in art. We highly recommend Ms. Gina.

My 3 kids have been taking private art lessons with Ms. Gina for over 12 years! Currently my son who is a high school sophomore, continues to enjoy the high quality art instruction that Ms. Gina provides. She is an expert in her field and has an incredible knowledge of art, coupled with many years of experience “teaching” art to students of all ages and abilities. She has been instrumental in developing my three children’s unique artistic styles. My children love working with Ms. Gina because she is patient, relatable, and makes art FUN!

Gina has taught my youngest son art for about 5 years. Gina’s heart, patience and talent make her a very special person and art instructor.
Gina allows the interests of her students to lead the way to learning art through a very creative process. My son has learned watercolors, pen and ink, colored pencils and charcoal. Gina uses what interests the student as a vehicle for teaching art theory and practice. Gina teaches color, line, perspective, shading by making art through stuffed toy renditions, Baseball Stadiums, landscapes and seascapes.
What I am most thankful for is that Gina invented a way to engage my son in learning. The hour lesson is a long time for him to sit still. He loves basketball, and Gina noticed this and uses it to teach. When they sit down to work, they become the “Art Warriors” basketball team. There are points for paying attention and learning . The “other team” gets points when my son gets distracted. It’s “out-of-the-box” thinking and it works.
I hope that many students take advantage of learning from Gina. I hope to learn from her myself someday soon.
