Coach Profile

Ms. Neal has been a Registered Nurse for over 20 years, and a CTE educator for over 10 years with LAUSD-DACE, the largest public school district in Adult and Career Education. Her teaching subjects include: Medical Assisting, and Health Info Technology (Medical Terminology). As a medical assistant instructor, she prepared young adults for careers in multiple clinical settings. Many of her students have gone on to higher learning, becoming registered nurses, physician assistants, radiologic technicians, and nurse practitioners to name a few. Before earning her teaching credentials from the University of San Diego, her nursing specialties included: perioperative nursing, aesthetic nursing, clinical research studies, nurse manager in surgical aftercare, staff nursing at USC in the field of outpatient GYN surgery, labor and delivery, and home health. Born and raised in East LA, Sandra graduated from the East Los Angeles College School of Nursing, trained at LAC-USC Medical Center, and worked for a renowned UCLA surgeon before changing her career path toward education, where Sandra felt was her true calling. She is a proud mom to 5 children, and is a super proud grandma of 5 grandchildren. 2 of her children followed her path as healthcare workers, and 1 followed her path into education. She credits much of her success to her supportive husband of over 20 years. Ms. Neal’s career goal has always been to mentor students to ensure they become the devoted healthcare workers of our next generation, and she is the recipient of the CALCO Award- 2022, for Excellence in Teaching by the California Council of Adult Education (CCAE) Los Angeles Metropolitan Section.
